Two arrests were made in the death of a missing 15-year-old girl whose body was discovered face-down near a Los Angeles industrial park, officials said.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office said two 15-year-old boys were booked Wednesday on suspicion of murder in connection to Samantha Bustos’ shooting death. Their names weren’t released because they’re minors.
Bustos’ body was found around 1:30 a.m. March 25 near Domingues Hills Industrial Park in Compton, detectives said.
Few details about her cause of death were previously released, but authorities said Wednesday she was shot in the upper torso then dumped in the bushes, according to news station KABC.
The teen girl’s family reported her missing from her home the day before her body was found.
Detectives said they arrested the first suspect Saturday and believe he was present at the time of her death. The second suspect was detained for questioning Tuesday and implicated himself during the interview, officials said.
Authorities said the case is still under investigation and they will present the findings to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
