A wild police chase straight out of a Hollywood action flick unfolded on the streets of Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, with a pair of U-Haul thieves making a daring escape from their ride and fleeing into a getaway car as cops closed in.

The car chase ended when an unsuspecting driver smashed into the getaway car in Hyde Park and forced them to flee on foot.
The incredible pursuit sparked around 4:40 a.m. when five suspects were caught stealing from a warehouse just south of downtown on the 1100 block of East 32nd Street, the LAPD told The California Post.
They jumped into the back of a U-Haul and fled the scene with the cops in hot pursuit, sparking the wild chase caught by a Sky5 helicopter.
Three of the suspects fled from the truck as it tore through the South Los Angeles area — stolen goods spilled out of the truck’s open door onto Manchester Avenue.
The truck peeled into the Randy’s Donuts parking lot before the suspects ditched it at around 5:20 a.m. and sprinted toward a waiting sedan as officers on foot tried to stop them.
The black car was traveling at speeds over 100 mph as cops followed on the 405 Freeway before turning back onto surface streets, slowing down only to let two or three of the suspects out at around 5:45 a.m.
The pursuit only ended when an unsuspecting driver smashed into the getaway car that was trying to run a red light at the intersection at West 48th Street and Arlington Avenue, according to police.
The car spun out of control, but the driver fled on foot — running through backyards and hopping fences in a desperate attempt for safety.
Police have set up a perimeter to find the quick-footed thieves.
Only two have been arrested so far, though it’s not clear whether they included the drivers or the burglars who burst through people’s properties.
The LAPD could not say how many involved in the heist are still in the wind.
