A funeral worker in the UK tragically died last month when she was crushed to death on the job.

Sally Blundell, 58, was pronounced dead on Dec. 1 at the East of England Co-op Funeral Services branch in Swaffham, Norfolk, the BBC reported.

At the opening of the inquest into her death on Thursday, pathologist Laszlo Igali said her cause of death was “contusion and compression of the chest by an external object,” according to the Eastern Daily Press.

The incident may have involved a hoist used for lifting, the outlet added.

Investigators ruled the incident a “tragic accident.”

At the time of her death, Blundell had been a funeral administrator with the co-op for about eight years, the company said.

 “We are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague and friend Sally Blundell,” the co-op’s statement read, according to Eastern Daily Press.

“Sally worked for our co-op for over eight years and her care and experience will be truly missed by those in and around Swaffham, as well as her colleagues.

“First and foremost in our mind are Sally’s family and friends — we offer them our deepest condolences,” it concluded.

The Swaffham branch was closed for several days after Blundell’s death, the Eastern Daily Press noted.

After the brief hearing on Thursday, Norfolk senior coroner Jacqueline Lake scheduled a follow-up appearance for April 5, the outlet said.

The local council declined to comment further on the proceedings, citing the ongoing investigation.

East of England Co-op Funeral Services did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for a comment.
