One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a US Air Force base in New Mexico on Tuesday evening, according to reports.

Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo was placed on lockdown around 5:30 p.m. local time after reports of an active shooter, the base said in a statement to The Post. 

The wounded individual is receiving medical treatment. The identities of the person fatally shot and the person wounded have not been released.

No additional details about the gunman or how the shooting unfolded were provided.

It is also unclear if those involved in the shooting were members of the military.

The base’s convenience store, known as the “shopette,” will be closed until further notice, the 49th Wing posted on Facebook late Tuesday. Officials did not clarify whether the gunfire occurred in the store. 

The lockdown was later lifted after the 93-square-mile base was deemed safe, security officials confirmed.

Holloman Air Force Base is home to the 49th Wing, which supports national security and includes combat-ready airmen and guardians. 

The 49th Wing had no additional comment on the incident late Tuesday when reached by The Post.
