A nuclear-capable American bomber jet flew over England on Tuesday while relaying a blaring siren.

SPICY22, a US Air Force jet, circled closely in the air over Gloucestershire while emitting an emergency Squawk code, the Daily Mail reported.

“Totally chill and definitely not nerding out watching this flying circuits over town,” one Brit tweeted.

“Noisy bugger circling Glos today,” one Twitter user said, posting a photo of the jet.

The jet sent out an emergency Squawk 7700 code, which translates to an “emergency situation.”

It is believed the jet was experiencing engine failure.

The B-52 bomber circled the area in a loop in order to burn off fuel before returning to Royal Air Force Fairford.

The jet had been covering a path in the northern end of Gloucester, Churchdown, Bishop’s Cleeve, Newent, Tewkesbury and Cheltenham.

The US sent B-52 bombers to the UK in early February, two weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine. The jets have remained active in Europe throughout the war and have been seen flying in Romania, NATO territory close to Ukraine.

MailOnline has contacted the Ministry of Defence for further information.
