A federal appeals court has declined once again Planned Parenthood’s request for an immediately halt to new Trump administration rules barring clinics that accept federal funds from referring patients for abortions.

More than 20 states and the American Medical Association had joined Planned Parenthood in asking the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals to block the controversial rule, which prohibits tax-funded clinics from even discussing abortion with patients.

The decision came late Friday, and follows previous rulings by a three-judge panel and an 11-judge panel saying that the rules can remain in effect while the administration appeals a lower court ruling that had blocked them.
