An American man has been charged in Germany with murder, rape and other counts for shoving two US tourists into a 165-foot ravine near a fairytale castle, killing one of them, prosecutors said.

The 31-year-old suspect, previously identified as Troy Bohling, from Michigan, has been indicted at the German state court in Kempten, which will decide whether and when to send the case to trial.

The murder suspect’s name has not been officially released by police in accordance with German privacy laws.

The indictment against Bohling incudes charges of murder, rape with fatal consequences, attempted murder and possession of child pornography.

If convicted of the top charge, Bohling could face up to life in prison.

Bohling has been accused of luring two female tourists he met by chance off a hiking trail near the Mariensbruecke Bridge on June 14 with the promise of a “romantic” view of the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

The Michigan native then allegedly forced 21-year-old Eva Liu to the ground and tried to strip her naked.

When Liu’s friend, 22-year-old Kelsey Chang, attempted to intervene, prosecutors said Bohling pushed her down a 165-foot ravine.

Chang suffered a head injury and bruises, but survived.

Bohling then strangled Liu until she was unconscious and raped her, before pushing her down the steep slope as well, prosecutors said. The recent college graduate from Naperville, Illinois, later died from her injuries.

Prosecutors said they confiscated Bohling’s laptop and cellphones that were found to contain child pornography.

Bohling lived in the Detroit suburb of Lincoln Park with his brother, according to records.

A neighbor previously told the Daily Mail that Bohling “would never look you down in the eye when he came and went.”
