The United States set a new grim milestone Thursday with more than 4,000 COVID-19 deaths recorded in a single day.
The unsettling numbers come after Wednesday saw over 3,900 deaths in the country, according to The Washington Post.
The deadly virus appeared in the US nearly one year ago and is crippling intensive care units across the country.
Two vaccines have been developed and states have begun to inoculate frontline workers.
The nation has seen more than 21,500,00 confirmed coronavirus cases and over 364,500 deaths as of Thursday night, according to John Hopkins University.
