A top spook announced Thursday he’s leaving the government when President Obama’s term is over.

“I submitted my letter of resignation last night, which felt pretty good,” James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, said at a House Intelligence Committee hearing.

“I have 64 days left and I would have a hard time with my wife for anything past that,” he added.

As director, Clapper coordinates intelligence across government agencies.

His replacement will be one more job Donald Trump will fill when he enters office in January.

All members of an outgoing administration must submit a resignation at some point.
