The Trump administration is likely to continue tightening its sanctions on Russia for its 2014 annexation of Crimea, Energy Secretary Rick Perry said on Saturday.

Perry spoke with reporters in Warsaw, Poland, after meeting with Polish and Ukrainian officials on a new plan meant to help wean the two Eastern European nations off their reliance on Russian gas supplies.

The deal, which will drastically increase American shipments of liquefied national gas to Ukraine through Poland’s port on the Baltic Sea, is intended as an end-run around Russia’s ability to choke off European energy supplies that are shipped via pipeline through Ukraine.
