The Catholic Church was caught in an embarrassing gaffe after hailing the late rocker Lou Reed Tuesday.

Gianfranco Cardinal Ravasi, the Vatican’s culture minister, tweeted out a tribute to Reed, quoting lyrics from “Perfect Day.”

“Oh, it’s such a perfect day/I’m glad I spent it with you/Oh, such a perfect day/You just keep me hanging on,” Ravasi tweeted — without knowing “you” was heroin. He backtracked hours later.
