A father and son are dead following a brutal mauling by a likely rabid bear that barreled into their home in Russia on Monday.

The massive brown bear kicked off its murderous rampage when it massacred 35 stray dogs at a nearby shelter before breaking into the Luchegorsk home and fatally mauling the 87-year-old man and his son, 56, according to the US Sun.

Shelter director Olga Zamyshlyaeva told the outlet the dogs were chained inside kennels and couldn’t escape when the deranged animal bypassed the “wooden and flimsy” fence and wandered inside the facility.

She said bear tracks were discovered at the gruesome scene.

“The bear came in at night, and 35 dogs died,” Zamyshlyaeva said. “We don’t have security here. The dogs are kept in kennels.”

The bear then continued its killing spree the next day.

Local police blocked the area and enforced a curfew as hunting inspectors were immediately ordered to locate and execute the bear, with locals fearing it would kill again.

Hours later, the deranged animal was shot to death, according to photos.

Bear expert Sergey Aramilev believed the animal was either infected with rabies or wounded by hunters, the Sun reported.

“A healthy bear would definitely not do this, it would not even come close to a populated area,” he said.

The bear also appeared to be underweight, the outlet reported, suggesting it was ill.
