Dramatic video shows a rescue boat nearly being capsized by a monster wave as it tried to save an “idiot” surfer in the UK as Storm Ciara slammed Europe this weekend.

The clip shows the Royal National Lifeboat Institution boat trying to make its way out the surfer off the coast of Hastings, East Sussex on Sunday — almost flipping upside down in the pounding surf several times but miraculously managing to stay upright and continue its mission.

“We’re happy to report that we’re all safe, well and uninjured and the boat is undamaged and safely berthed next to Eastbourne,” the RNLI said.

The footage was shot by bystander Paul Hogg.

“Brave boys from @RNLI off out to rescue some idiot surfer off Hastings in #StormCiara. Come home safe boys,” Hogg tweeted.

The surfer was ultimately found conscious, according to Yahoo News.

The storm, the worst to hit Europe in seven years, has killed at least five people in the United Kingdom, Poland, Sweden, and Slovenia, AccuWeather reported Monday.

Winds gusting over 90 mph caused widespread flooding and left more than half a million people in the UK without power over the weekend, the report said.
