Shocking video shows the moment a Florida prison inmate sneaked up behind a female prison guard and attempted to strangle her with a pillowcase.

The Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office released chilling footage of the attack that only came to an end after other inmates came to her aid.

With other prisoners laying in beds nearby, the unidentified assailant can be seen watching the officer, identified as Deputy Lilian Jimenez, walk into a nearby office.

The inmate then appears to be handed something by another prisoner before slowly walking up behind the guard and violently attempting to choke her with a pillowcase.

Within seconds, other inmates rush into the room and broke up the assault before other guards rushed into the area, officials said.

Jimenez only suffered mild injuries, according to Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister.

“While these inmates put our deputy in danger, there were others who did the right thing by coming to her aid, and for that, I am grateful,” he said in a statement.

“The assailant and her co-conspirator now face additional charges for assaulting her,” he said.
