Video footage shows Venezuelan anti-government protesters breaking down the metal gate around La Carlota military base in the capital of Caracas on Tuesday.
“Demonstrators in the vicinity of La Carlota knock down the grate of the military base,” reads a tweet with accompanying footage.
The move came hours after government opposition leader Juan Guaidó announced he was launching a bid to seize power from dictator president Nicolas Maduro, sparking widespread protests and violence.
