A pair of vigils are set for Saturday for the victims of a mass shooting Thursday night in Indianapolis.
A lone gunman, identified by police as 19-year-old Brandon Scott Hole, killed eight people and wounded five others at a FedEx facility near Indianapolis International Airport before reportedly killing himself.
The first vigil is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church; a candlelight vigil is planned for 7 p.m. for Krannert Park in Indianapolis, according to reports.
Among the eight victims were four Sikhs, leading to an outpouring of support from Indiana’s Sikh community and questions about the shooter’s motives.
“Our hearts and prayers are with their families, and we are in touch with community leaders, government and law enforcement officials to learn more,” Sikh Coalition Executive Director Satjeet Kaur wrote in a statement. “While we don’t yet know the motive or identity of the shooter, we expect that authorities will continue to conduct a full investigation—including the possibility of bias as a factor.”
