A Cambridge University student was sexually harassed on a flight from London to the US by men who sent her messages using a chat system that allows passengers to communicate with each other while they’re in the air, a report said.
The passenger, 24-year-old Jessica Van Meir, was targeted on the Virgin Atlantic flight after she got up to use the bathroom soon after takeoff on the flight to Washington DC, she told CNN.
One of the passengers messaged her seat, calling her a “tidy babe.”
Another chat user, who named himself “big d—k swinger,” sent winking emojis, Van Meir posted on Twitter after the flight.
Another chat user named “dirty mike” wrote to her: “welcome to hell.”
Van Meir wrote back to the pervs: “I work for a law firm that specializes in online sexual harassment. Enjoy being reported to Virgin.”
Van Meir posted photos of the creepy messages to Twitter after the harassment and thanked the flight crew for dealing with the situation.
“The flight attendants were helpful & dealt with it swiftly,” she wrote.
The airline said they are investigating the situation “as a matter of urgency,” British newspaper The Sun reported.
