A Mexican drug kingpin known as “El Mencho” has become a “number one priority” for authorities as they crack down on the highly toxic narcotics funneled into the US, according to a report.

DEADEA

“He is the number one priority for DEA and frankly for federal law enforcement in the United States,” said Matthew Donahue, an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, told CBS.

The drug lord, whose real name is Nemesio Cervantes, is wanted for $10 million for running Jalisco Nueva Generacion cartel, which is responsible for at least a third of the drugs entering the US, the outlet reported.

Donahue said the cartel has trafficked “tons” of cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl-laced heroin.

Among the drugs linked to the cartel was a bust in Chicago involving cocaine so toxic that it was handled with protective gear, CBS reported.

“[Cervantes] is the one that is responsible for sending the poison that is actually killing innocent women and kids,” Donahue said.
