Democratic presidential hopeful Jay Inslee announced Wednesday night that he’s dropping out of the race.

The Washington governor first shared the news on “The Rachel Maddow Show” telling the MSNBC host, “It’s become clear that I’m not gonna be carrying the ball, I’m not gonna be the president.”

Maddow pushed Inslee on his future political ambitions — including if he intends to run again for governor, or if has interest in being somebody’s running mate.

But Inslee dodged the questions, saying he’ll release a statement tomorrow laying out his plans.

Inslee is the second Democratic presidential candidate is as many weeks to drop out of the still-crowded primary field.

Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper ended his run last Thursday.
