A GUIDE dog saved the lives of his two handlers by warning them of a car careering towards them seconds before it would have hit them.

Labrador O’Neil was on a field test in San Rafael, California, with his trainers when he suddenly stopped and swivelled his head to look behind him.

Training supervisor Todd Jurek then also looked behind him and noticed a black car reversing up the pavement towards them.

He grabbed his blindfolded fellow instructor Danielle Alvarado and dragged her around the corner and out of the path of the motor, seconds before the car barrelled past them.

Todd said: “I think the dog looked before I did. I don’t know what it would have done if I were not there, so you never know.”
