Absence makes the spouse grow sadder. That’s the alarming conclusion of a new study that found frequent business trips abroad may lead to mental health problems for the spouse left behind.

Researchers looked at the medical insurance claims made by spouses of World Bank employees over a 12-month period.

They found that the level of stress-related and psychological problems for “home alone” hubbys and wives was three times higher than for those whose partners don’t travel.
