You can call this Florida firefighter a real bird brain.

Cops say Lt. Bruce Coates of the Edgewater Fire Department got tipsy at a party, grabbed a pet parrot off another guest’s shoulder – and bit its head off.

The 34-year-old Ozzy Osbourne wannabe has apologized and offered to replace the $200 bird.

A little late, pal, wouldn’t you say?

In other bird-related trouble, a German zoo has imported four female penguins from Sweden in a bid to tempt its apparently gay penguins into mating.

The four females were dispatched to the Bremerhaven Zoo in Bremen after officials wondered why no baby penguins were being born, and discovered that six of its male birds were living in same-sex partnerships.

In case the gay penguins still show no interest, the zoo has also flown in two new male penguins, “so that the ladies don’t miss out altogether,” said zoo director Heike Kueck.

This story’s snow joke.

Romanian firefighters put out a blaze in an apartment – by throwing snowballs through the window.

When crews in Sibiu couldn’t get close to the blaze because it was so intense, Fire Chief Florian Chioar ordered everybody to pack snowballs and keep throwing them until he told them to stop. It worked.

“[We] put out the fire in about 30 minutes,” he said.

A British cop wowed the crowd at a karaoke session by performing in full uniform – while on duty.

But the unnamed officer, who belted out “Love is all Around” to cheering boozers at the Harbor Moon Pub in Cornwall, got into hot water when his superiors found out.

Still, patrons hope he comes back.

“He showed the human face of the police,” said Jason Warren.

Catholic Bishop Dom Mauro Morelli might consider changing “Let us pray” to “Let us party!”

The 69-year-old man of the cloth stunned church officials by marching in the raucous Sao Paulo Carnival as half-naked gals and guys gyrated nearby.

“I have been a bishop for 40 years and have always been among the people,” Morelli explained.
