Marshall JHS in Clovis, N.M., was locked down, all streets leading to the school were closed, and cops with rifles took up positions on rooftops.

Seems a concerned citizen reported seeing a student carrying a suspicious package into school.

A thorough check revealed the package contained a large burrito.

Student Michael Morrisey carried it to school wrapped in tinfoil with “a T-shirt over it because I wanted it to stay warm.”

Instead of driving around (and around) the block looking for a parking spot, drivers in Chicago are buying them on the auction block.

In fact, they bought 23 deeded parking spots – in new buildings and recently converted condos – for a total of $750,000 at auction this week.

Gavel-wielder Rick Levin says some prime spaces have sold for $90,000.

Girl Scouts in Waukesha, Wis., have discovered that cookie sales sometimes crumble.

They’ve gone to small-claims court to collect dough from five customers who ordered cookies during the Scouts’ annual fund-raising drive and never paid up. The cookie monsters owe from $301 to $1,485.68.

An 80-year-old woman carried an ailing 67-year- old neighbor on her back down two flights of stairs to escape a fire in their senior housing complex in Hopkinton, R.I.

“Nothing to it,” said small-but-spunky Madalene Lindill after her heroic rescue.

Officials said the blaze started when ailing neighbor Grace Brayman, wearing an oxygen mask, lit a cigarette.

Cops in Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands, delayed arresting a woman who aimed her car at a motorcycle officer and tried unsuccessfully to run him down.

Seems she was “very pregnant” and in need of immediate medical attention.

They plan to charge her with attempted vehicular assault after she delivers her baby.

Wonder how New York’s finest would have handled it!
