Unlike most of its neighbors, Downingtown, Pa., wasn’t lucky enough to have been the site of a Revolutionary War battle.

So to rectify this unfortunate historical difficulty – and to get the tourist dollars nearby towns are getting by re-enacting their local skirmishes – this burg once known as Milltown has made up its own battle and dubbed it: “Milltown: Washington’s First Line of Defense.”

The battle that never happened was re-enacted yesterday – under protest from the local historical society.

A government plan to buy Swaziland’s king a $250 million luxury jet drew protests in the small African country, which has been plagued by severe food shortages.

Parliament called for the resignation of its prime minister, who arranged to buy the plane for King Mswati III at a price five times the impoverished nation’s national deficit.

Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini said the jet was needed to help the king attract foreign aid.

A Swedish man died when he was buried alive under a 13-ton pile of peas in a storage silo.

The man was working on an electrical installation on a farm near the town of Mjolby in southern Sweden when the peas were dumped on him, authorities said.

An Australian man claiming to be a paraplegic who was thrown from his wheelchair and robbed has been charged with fraud.

Steven Craig Seach, 32, told police he thought he was going to die after thieves stole his wheelchair and left him dangling upside down from a fence for two hours. He was inundated with gifts from sympathetic Australians.

After his scam was exposed, Seach walked unaided into court Friday where he was charged with fraud.

A robber’s bullet got lodged in a wad of cash a South African man was carrying in his pocket.

The 44-year-old man was driving when an attacker shot him, authorities said.

Police captain Jacques Wiese said the bullet “entered the right side of his jacket pocket and was lodged in the money.”

The man realized he had been shot when he noticed a hole in his jacket and found the bullet in the bills.
