A pack of monkeys stormed into a governor’s mansion in Nigeria and ransacked the place.
Fifteen monkeys invaded Government House in the city of Awka and destroyed the governor’s teapot and other items, the Daily Times of Nigeria reported.Authorities said the monkeys are said to hang around outside the edifice and are venerated by some Nigerians.
Local police are investigating the matter and said no official report had been made to cops regarding a break-in at the mansion.
A man has sucked the blood of 207 goats sacrificed at a Hindu temple.
Sisir Das, a practitioner of Hindu occult rituals, drank the goats’ blood at the Kali temple in Bengal’s Midnapore district over the past four days.
The United News of India reported that blood-sucking runs in the sorcerer’s family and that his thirst for blood “remains insatiable.”
Das said his father was directed by the goddess Kali to drink the blood of sacrificed animals.
“But the number of sacrifices then was 40 in four days,” he said. “I feel the goddess taking possession of my body.”
A trailer park in Los Angeles has been placed on the city’s list of historic monuments.
City officials said it is the first mobile-home park in the country recognized for its historic significance.
The Monterey Trailer Park dates back to the early 1920s and served as an auto camp to provide temporary housing to people moving to Los Angeles after World War I. The park joins 715 other sites in the city, including an avocado grove and the area around the famed “Hollywood” sign.
Owner Peter Young opposed the designation, saying he feared it would interfere with his plans to restore the trailer park.
A German zookeeper fired last month for eating animals in his care was awarded six months severance pay after reaching a settlement in court.
The zookeeper was fired after he was caught barbecuing five Tibetan mountain chickens and two Cameroonian sheep at the petting zoo in Cologne.
The man, who had worked at the zoo since 1997, challenged the dismissal, saying he had not been given the six months notice stipulated in his contract.
German law makes it extremely difficult for employers to fire workers.
