WEIRD BUT TRUE
Volunteers are being asked to spend the night in a new Nebraska jail to help test it out.
The “prisoners” will wear orange boiler suits and be given dinner and breakfast.
The idea is to help them understand life in prison and give staff a chance to practice procedures at the new 96-bed jail in Plattsmouth.
Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann said volunteers should arrive between 3 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. on Saturday to be processed.
That includes having their mug shots and fingerprints taken. The jailbirds will be released between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. the next day.

An Oregon woman who lost 800 pounds underwent an operation for the final touch – to remove 110 pounds of lap that hung down to her shins.
Previously, Jeannette Standard of Pendleton had to use a footstool to prop up her drooping belly.
“I had to lift it to clean under it. And I would have to lay on the bed and have my daughter dry me off,” said Standard.
“But the skin was breaking down anyway. It had cracks that were open and bleeding. And the smell was atrocious.”
The surgery cost more than $50,000.
Standard’s doctor, Kent Walker, said “fat aprons” are common in people who have lost extensive amounts of weight.
“Imagine trying to get around with a 110-pound belly pack. That’s an amazing amount of weight,” he said.
Five-foot-2 Jeannette now weighs a mere – ahem – 435 pounds.

A Pennsylvania sicko secretly videotaped his wife and three kids for eight years – filming them in sex acts and going to the bathroom, cops say.
Retired mailman Donald Barto of Brighton Township is charged with sexual abuse of children, possessing obscene materials and invasion of privacy.
Barto, 53, allegedly hid his camera in air ducts or under clothing to capture the perverted action.
Police Officer Donald Yates said Barto’s wife, Karen Peters, their two daughters and son never knew their activities were being recorded.
The tapes that were viewed by police, the report said, showed the young people engaged in sexual acts with each other.
