Politicians fed up with drunken hooligans tearing through Daytona Beach, Fla., during spring break placed signs on the city’s trash cans that read, “It’s all about respect.”
In a single night, thieves swiped all 300 signs.
“I can understand how some students would have taken one or two or maybe 10,” said astonished Mayor Yvonne Scarlett-Golden. “But to have taken 300!”

A Frenchman who said he was traumatized by the Spain bombings was convicted of trying to run over a pedestrian he mistook for Osama bin Laden.
The 35-year-old, identified only as Pierre, was sentenced in Montpellier to a three-month suspended sentence. The man he tried to run over was unharmed.
Pierre’s lawyer, David Mendel, said his client was the “victim of a hallucination” while driving Monday through Montpellier’s historic center.
“If it were [bin Laden], we would have won $5 million,” Mendel said, referring to the reward. (s, lcf)
