Dr. Katherine Lindley Dodson, the doctor killed in a murder-suicide at her Austin clinic, was a Louisiana native who had become a beloved pediatrician in the Texas city in recent years, according to reports.
Dodson, 43, a married mom, was killed late Tuesday when a terminally ill California doctor stormed into the Austin clinic and shot her dead, police said.
Her husband, Drew Dodson, told the Austin American-Statesman that her family “have gotten a lot of outreach and support right now.”
He did not immediately respond to a telephone call from The Post.
“Our entire community is beyond words gutted by the senseless loss of our wonderful pediatrician and friend, Dr. Lindley Dodson,” Karen Shafrir Vladeck, an Austin lawyer and close Dodson friend, said on Twitter.
“This thread is dedicated to her life and love of children and I invite anyone who knew her to share a memory here if that helps you process your grief,” Vladeck wrote.
Dr. Dodson grew up in Baton Rouge and attended Washington and Lee University in Virginia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1999, according to her LinkedIn page.
She earned her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2003 and did her residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dodson relocated to Austin in 2007, where she served as a pediatrician at Seton Healthcare Family until joining Children’s Medical Group as a partner in 2017.
For three consecutive years she was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Doctors, from 2017 through 2019, KXAN-TV reported.
It was at her clinic Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. where Dr. Bharat Narumanchi, a 43-year-old California pediatrician, burst in and took several hostages before killing Dodson and himself, Austin police said.
“Last night, in a horrifying act of gun violence, one of our most skilled, compassionate pediatricians, Dr. Lindley Dodson, was held hostage and murdered at her Central Austin office,” US Rep. Lloyd Doggett tweeted on Wednesday.
“She provided care for our youngest 2 grandchildren & so many other children across the community,” Doggett wrote.

“She was a mom and she just knew how to go things expertly,” said mom Glenna Bruun, who told the Statesman she last saw Dodson last week. “She just had a way with children.”
In a statement, Louisiana State University Interim President Tom Galligan said the school was stunned word of Dodson’s death.
“We are shocked at the tragic loss of Lindley, and our hearts go out to Katherine, Paul, Drew and the entire family,” Galligan told KXAN. “Words fail us, but we offer our good thoughts, sympathy, and prayers to our friends and colleague.”
Dodson had two daughters and a son, the outlet said. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
