A widower who sued Disney World alleging his doctor wife died from an allergy attack at a resort restaurant has dropped his claims — suggesting a settlement may have been reached.
Jeffrey Piccolo voluntarily dropped his suit Friday over the 2023 death of his wife, Manhattan Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan, after she went into anaphylactic shock when the couple ate at a Disney Springs restaurant in Florida.
Piccolo’s lawyer, Brian Denney, didn’t confirm a settlement was reached but he told The Post by email Thursday: “I have no comment other than to say that this matter has been resolved.”
Jeffrey Piccolo has dropped his claims alleging his wife, Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan, died from an allergy attack at a Disney Springs restaurant in 2023. Facebook / Jeffrey PiccoloIn August 2024, Disney had asked a judge to toss the claims against it on the grounds that the fine print of Piccolo’s Disney+ subscription forced his case to be handled in private arbitration instead of in a public court.
But the entertainment juggernaut walked that move back after Piccolo’s lawyers said the argument “borders on absurd.”
New York City personal injury lawyer, Mark Shirian — who doesn’t have any connection to the case — told The Post it could have settled for millions, given Tangsuan would have likely earned a sizable income over the course of her life, along with other factors.
And he said the public blowback Disney received over its argument for arbitration could have motivated the company to settle.
“While the settlement terms are almost certainly confidential, wrongful death cases involving a relatively young physician with a strong earning trajectory can carry substantial value,” Shirian said. “When you consider projected lifetime earnings, loss of companionship, and the circumstances surrounding a fatal anaphylactic reaction after the restaurant allegedly assured the couple the food was safe, the potential exposure could be significant.”
“If the allegations were supported by the evidence, a case like this could realistically resolve somewhere in the high seven-figure to low eight-figure range,” the lawyer said.

The suit — filed in Orange County, Fla., circuit court in February 2024 — claimed Tangsuan told the restaurant waitstaff multiple times about her serious allergy, and they assured her they could safely accommodate her needs and make allergen-free food, the suit claimed.
She ordered broccoli and corn fritters, scallops and onion rings.

By the time she entered Planet Hollywood, she was experiencing severe difficulty breathing and collapsed.
She was immediately given an epi-pen but she succumbed to the reaction at a local hospital.

Piccolo sought damages of at least $50,000 under Florida’s wrongful death act, in addition to mental pain and suffering, loss of income and funeral expenses.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Irish partners John Cooke and Paul Nolan, not by Disney.
Lawyers for Disney and the restaurant didn’t immediately return a request for comment Thursday.
