A witness says she tried to help a young woman in the hours before she was shot and killed on a man’s porch in suburban Detroit.

A judge is holding a hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence to send Theodore Wafer to trial on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Renisha McBride.

Carmen Beasley testified Wednesday that McBride’s car crashed into her parked car early on Nov. 2. Beasley went back into her house to call an ambulance but the 19-year-old McBride walked away.

Beasley says McBride was hurt and seemed “discombobulated.”

Blocks away, Wafer shot McBride on his porch. His attorneys claim he feared for his life. An autopsy found McBride was drunk and using marijuana before she was shot in the face.
