The teenager who pushed her friend off of a 60-foot bridge – causing the girl to puncture a lung, bruise her esophagus and shatter five ribs – has been charged with reckless endangerment.
Prosecutors in Clark County, Washington, announced charges against 18-year-old Taylor Smith on Friday, claiming she “created a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury” when she shoved Jordan Holgerson, 16, near Moulton Falls on Aug. 7.
Holgerson hopes her former friend gets jail time for the prank.
“I wanted Taylor to be put away for a little bit so that she can think about what she did and about her actions,” she told NBC.
Holgerson, who said the teens had been friends for about a year before their summer fun turned sour, wants Smith to pay for the hospital stay, and said she’d “maybe” sue for damages, “If it gets to that point,” she told NBC’s “Today.”
Video of the treacherous fall went viral and shows friends egging Holgerson on as she nervously debated jumping.
“No I won’t go,” she mumbled. Then Smith puts her hands on Holgerson’s shoulders and sends her flying off the ledge.
Holgerson is at least the second person to be injured after falling off the same bridge in Moulton Falls Regional Park. A 47-year-old man had to be rescued by emergency crews after taking the 60-foot plummet in July last year.
