Jennifer L. Hooten, 32, was ordered to pay $1,400 in restitution on Sept. 13 as part of a deferred judgment for the felony theft charge, it was reported Wednesday.

She was arrested in May after other Scout leaders checked a bank account that should have had about $2,400 in cookie profits and discovered it was overdrawn.

Hooten first admitted she took several hundred dollars. Then she sent a co-leader a check for $1,000 and told officers she had planned to return the money.

In addition to the fine, she was ordered to complete 48 hours of public service.
