A sea of brown foam created by torrential downpours that slammed Australia’s east coast swallowed up a dog Monday until its owner miraculously found it.

The pup’s owner was caught on dramatic video wading through the muck at the Gold Coast’s Snapper Rocks in Byron Bay, about two hours south of Brisbane, desperately calling for her dog who’d gotten lost in the sea foam, local outlet 7 News reported

“Hazel! Hazel” the woman, sporting a white bathing suit, shouted as she searched through the churning brown bubbles, which were as high as her chest, video shows.

Soon after, the pup emerged and was safely scooped up into his mom’s arms and taken to safety, the clip shows.

Severe rain and high tides battered more than 600 miles of Australia’s eastern coastline Monday, the BBC reported

The beaches surrounding Byron Bay, a popular tourist destination, have all but disappeared, local mayor Simon Richardson told the outlet.

More than 2,000 homes have lost power and tides as high as 26 feet were recorded, the outlet reported.

The bizarre sea foam captured in the clip is created when impurities, such as salts, natural chemicals and dead plants, are churned together by powerful waves, turning the water into thick, brown bubbles, Norther Star previously reported
