A former Virginia lab worker has pleaded guilty to spreading contaminated feces on a co-worker’s computer mouse and desk chair, but she won’t see any jail time.

The Winchester Star reports that 31-year-old Andrea Edwards of Stephens City was given a two-year sentence Tuesday in Winchester City Circuit Court with time suspended. That means Edwards won’t serve jail time.

According to a criminal complaint, Edwards obtained a stool sample from a patient she had tested in the lab. It had tested positive for a type of bacteria known to cause infection, diarrhea, stomach pain and death. The complaint says she took the sample from the lab to the office area and put it on the co-worker’s mouse and chair.

Edwards will spend the next year on supervised probation.
