Danish authorities searching for a journalist who went missing from a homemade submarine have found a female body in waters off an island south of Copenhagen on Monday – but she has not yet been identified, according to a report.

Police investigator Jens Møller Jensen told reporters Monday afternoon that a female torso — without arms, legs or head — had been found off the island of Amager, The Local reported.

A resident notified police shortly before 4 p.m. local time of the gruesome find on the shore of the southwestern part of the island.

Copenhagen police duty officer Henrik Stormer was unable to confirm whether the body is that of missing journalist Kim Wall, who was least seen on the UC3 Nautilus on Thursday.

“But it is naturally in connection with the investigation of that case that we are making this announcement,” Stormer told TV2.
