Two residents of a Michigan recovery house allegedly spiked a manager’s macaroni and cheese with heroin, authorities said.
Shanna Marie Kota, 40, and Sarah Elaine Prange, 22, both of Port Huron, were arrested on poisoning charges Sunday in connection with the incident, according to local reports.
The 38-year-old victim, who works at the Lapeer Avenue facility, told authorities she had heard rumors “that she was poisoned by two clients that didn’t want her to work there anymore,” investigators said, according to the Detroit News.
Kota and Prange allegedly slipped the drug into the employee’s mac and cheese dish Friday.
The worker trashed the food after she thought it “tasted funny,” according to the news outlet.
The victim was then treated at McLaren Port Huron Hospital and investigators later found that the woman had been poisoned.
Kota and Prange were arraigned Tuesday on the felony charge and both were being held at the St. Clair County Intervention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 29.
