An American tourist riding a dirt bike in Thailand knocked down a local woman crossing the street — crumpling to his knees upon learning she was dead.
Philip Edward Morrow, 38, is being charged with reckless driving causing death for hitting pedestrian Kia Sae-wang, 58, as she crossed the street to go to a restaurant in Chiang Mai province Thursday morning, according to the Khaosod English.
Harrowing photos show first responders trying to save the local woman, who succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

Morrow was riding the dirt bike alongside his friend when the crash occurred. AsiaPacificPress via ViralPressThe American tourist was seen down on his knees at the scene of the crash — and then again at the police station, where he prostrated himself before Sae-wang’s family in “deep remorse,” the outlet reported.
Sae-wang’s family showed no anger at the grief-stricken dirt bike rider, witnesses told reporters.
Morrow was charged after the investigation showed he’d been riding his bike alongside a pal on a motorbike when he hit the pedestrian, police said.

The woman’s family showed no anger toward Morrow, witnesses said. AsiaPacificPress via ViralPressHe may also have been speeding at the time, according to Asia Pacific Press.
“‘As for whether repenting and apologizing would help reduce his punishment, we don’t know,” Police Col. Jakarin Atthasongphong, superintendent of the Mae On Police Station, told the wire service. “It is the court’s responsibility to serve the sentence.”
It was not immediately clear where Morror is from in the US or exactly when he will be tried.
