Dozens of people were injured Saturday when a ski lift collapsed at a resort in the Spanish region of Aragon, according to local reports.
At least 30 people were injured when the lift apparently plunged to the slope below, including two who were seriously injured, regional authorities said.

Horrifying footage showed the victims below the damaged lift, with skis and poles scattered across the snow.

“All necessary services are working to care for affected and injured people,” Aragon President Jorge Azcon said on X. Bomberos de HuescaAnother 80 were trapped on the damaged chairlift in the immediate aftermath of the shocking accident at the ski resort Astún, but have since been evacuated.
“It’s like a cable has come off, the chairs have bounced and people have been thrown off,” one witness told State TV channel TVE.
Several helicopters were deployed to rescue those trapped and transfer the injured to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
“While we await the final progress of the two seriously injured, fortunately the accident in Astún has had less impact than expected. The speed and efficiency of the public services involved in the rescue operation and assistance to those affected have had a lot to do with this,” Aragon President Jorge Azcon said on X.
