Israeli soldiers raised the Jewish state’s flag in Lebanon as part of its ongoing assault on Hezbollah terrorists.
A trio of Israel Defense Forces members were seen planting the flag on top of rubble in Maroun El Ras in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, a video shared by KANN News shows.
Maroun El Ras is less than 1 kilometer from the northern Israeli border. The IDF has “occupied” the village and destroyed houses from which Hezbollah was believed to have launched missiles at northern Israel, according to Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen.
The soldiers in the KANN News footage appeared to be in the “Iran Garden,” a propaganda tourist attraction that overlooks the Israeli towns of Avivim and Yiron, Ynet News noted.
The Iran Garden was opened at the site of a major battle of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war by former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2010, the outlet said.
There was also a large cutout of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani pointing toward Israel, according to the Lebanese news source The 961.
The site featured a model of the Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem, as well as billboards of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
By Tuesday, the site was mostly reduced to rubble as a result of the year-long fighting between Hezbollah and Israel, which started in the days after the Hamas terror attack on Oct. 7, 2023.
The video comes as the battle between Israel and Hezbollah continued to heat up on Wednesday, with US officials saying that more than 1,100 Americans have fled Lebanon.
The US is organizing thousands of seats to be made available for American citizens to depart the country, with 50 people boarding the latest flight to Istanbul Wednesday morning, US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.

When pressed about the mounting escalation in Lebanon, Miller said the US continues to back Israel’s targeted strikes on Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure while urging for de-escalation.
“We cannot and must not see the situation in Lebanon turn into anything like the situation in Gaza,” Miller added, referencing Israel’s ongoing operations across the Palestinian enclave.
The Israeli military, however, said it has no plans to scale back its current attacks in Lebanon, with the IDF touting Wednesday that it has conducted more than 1,100 airstrikes across the border over the last 10 days.
The flag went up in a Lebanese town that overlooks northern Israel. KANN NewsSeveral strikes were recorded in Beirut on Wednesday as the IDF targets Hezbollah’s headquarters, with Lebanon’s health ministry saying that at least five rescue workers were killed in one of the blasts.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said Israel will continue its harsh wave of attacks against Lebanon so as to “not allow [Hezbollah] any respite or recovery,” the Times of Israel reported.
“Our strike will be powerful, precise, and above all, surprising,” Halevi said. “They will not understand what happened and how it happened.”
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has fired at least 90 missiles over the border on Wednesday, with most of the rockets either intercepted or crashing and burning in northern Israeli fields, according to the IDF.
One strike, however, hit the city of Kiryat Shmona, killing Revital Yehud, 45, and Dvir Sharvit, 43, according to Israeli media.
The couple was allegedly walking their dogs in the morning when they were killed by a missile strike.
The Israeli military said a retaliatory attack took out the Hezbollah launcher that was firing missiles at Kiryat Shmona.
Israel also conducted another targeted strike in Syria, killing Adham Jahout, an alleged Hezbollah agent operating in Syria, according to the IDF.
