New York City mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani’s wife publicly mourned the death of a Palestinian influencer who openly glorified the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in Israel.
Rama Duwaji, an animator who tied the knot with the socialist in a February civil ceremony, posted four broken-heart emojis on Instagram Sunday to grieve Palestinian influencer Saleh al-Jafarawi.
“Beloved Jafarawi,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
Jafarawi, who documented the war in Gaza, was confirmed killed Sunday in clashes between Hamas and other Palestinian factions, according to reports.

Jafarawi’s death was cheered by many Israelis, who saw him as a Hamas propagandist, though many pro-Palestinian activists mourned him.
The 27-year-old Palestinian became known as “Mr. FAFO” in Israeli media because he gleefully celebrated the Hamas terror attack.
He then posted a video of himself sobbing when Israel launched strikes on Gaza and began its war on Hamas.
Video posted to Jafarawi’s X account, where he had more than 250,000 followers, showed him dead — wearing a press vest.

“For the last two years, I have followed Hamas content creator Saleh Al-Jafrawi (‘Mr FAFO’) with a mix of horror and admiration,” former Israeli spokesperson Eylon Levy said, according to the Times of Israel.
“I was engrossed. Mr FAFO had phenomenal energy, charisma, and creativity. Always popping up in a different costume, once a patient then a radiologist, a jihadist then a foreign correspondent, a ham actor but always with panache and chutzpah, constantly finding inventive ways to grab new audiences and tell his story.”

Jafarawi’s name, “Saleh,” translates to “virtuous” and “righteous” in Arabic. He first began taking off on social media in 2020 to blog about life in the Gaza Strip.
His death came amid a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas brokered by President Trump’s team.
Jafarai is believed to have been killed in deadly clashes between Hamas and fighters from the Doghmush clan, Al Jazeera reported.
Mamdani had met his wife, Duwaji on Hinge in 2021.
Like her husband, Duwaji has been outspoken about the Israel-Hamas war and a critic of how the US ally responded to the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.
