A Royal Caribbean crew member died after going overboard late Thursday as the ship was sailing through the Bahamas.

The man, who hasn’t been identified publicly, plunged from the Icon of the Seas at roughly 7 p.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the crew member fell or if he jumped from the ship.

Grim footage circulating on social media showed rescue crews pulling his body from the water about 30 minutes later, Cruise Hive reported.

“Our crew immediately initiated a search and rescue operation, but unfortunately, the crew member passed away,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said.

“We extend our condolences to the crew member’s family and loved ones. To respect their privacy, we have no additional details to share.”

The cruise was nearing the end of its 7-day voyage through the Caribbean at the time of the incident, according to an itinerary.

The ship is scheduled to dock, as planned, in Miami on Saturday.
