China has closed one of the makeshift hospitals that was rapidly built to battle the coronavirus epidemic — now that the last recovered patients from the facility were discharged, state media reported Monday.

The closure of the hospital in Wuhan comes as the number of new patients has seen a decline in the Hubei province, Reuters reported, citing state broadcaster CCTV.

Hubei on Sunday reported 196 new cases, the first time the number dropped below 200 in a day since January, the National Health Commission said.

“The rapid rising trend of virus cases in Wuhan has been controlled,” Mi Feng, a spokesman for China’s National Health Commission said. “Outbreaks in Hubei outside of Wuhan are curbed and provinces outside of Hubei are showing a positive trend.”

With the sharp fall of new cases, the hospital discharged its last group of 34 patients, CCTV reported.

The hospital was one of 16 temporary hospitals built as the province became inundated with thousands of coronavirus patients.

Hubei has reported more than 67,000 since December’s outbreak of the virus that has spread to at least 64 other countries
