Physical therapy can be just as good as surgery for a common knee injury, and at far less cost and risk, a study says.
Many patients who stuck with therapy for a torn meniscus had improved as much — both six months and one year later — as those who were given arthroscopic surgery right away, said one study leader, Dr. Jeffrey Katz, of Harvard Medical School.
