Google announced Thursday that it would increase security in YouTube offices around the world in the wake of the shooting by a disgruntled vlogger at the video giant’s headquarters.

Nasim Aghdam wounded three people at YouTube’s campus near San Francisco on Tuesday before turning her gun on herself. She had posted messages online claiming YouTube censored her videos.

Google, which owns YouTube, released a statement on Twitter in which it called the shooting “shocking and disturbing”—and praised the “heroic acts” of staffers and first responders.

“Thanks to the security protections in place, (Aghdam) never entered the building itself. Within two minutes of our 911 call, San Bruno police arrived on the scene,” the statement read.

“The officers responding to the scene were exceptional. They entered our building to protect the lives of our employees.”

Google said YouTube workers have been encouraged to take time off — or work from home — and that the company was providing support services.
